Most of the 48 million Americans with hearing loss experience reduced hearing in both of their ears at one time. But a small percentage experiences hearing loss<\/a> in only one ear. This is known as unilateral hearing loss.<\/p>\n

Unilateral vs. Bilateral Hearing Loss\"Older<\/h2>\n

Bilateral hearing loss is the most common type of hearing loss and occurs when there is a decrease in hearing ability in both ears at once. Unilateral hearing loss is a loss in only one ear. Just like traditional bilateral hearing loss, unilateral loss can range from mild to profound.<\/p>\n
